Below are a different areas in which individuals or groups can volunteer within the Park and Zoo:

Education Docents
Education Docents are committed individuals who help educate and inspire the public with the use of various biofacts and ambassador animals. Examples of work performed by our education docents include: answering questions for visitors, crowd control, assisting with or facilitating guided zoo tours, assiting with educational programs, enrichment projects (minor building, painting, crafts, etc.), assisting with special events and assisting with the care and husbandry of the education department ambassador animals. Applications for this opportunity are accepted year-round however training sessions are held in the winter.

Special Events Volunteer
Special event volunteers usually work one day, every so often to help prepare for themed events that require large numbers of individuals.  These include: Boo at the Zoo, Santa's workshop, Easter EggstravanganZoo, Sleepovers, Princess and & Pirate Days, and the Annual Earth Day Celebration. Examples of work performed: event preperation, assist with crowd control, registration, information stations, fund raising, craft activities, set-up & clean-up.

Parks & Grounds Volunteer
Grounds volunteers can help in a variety of different ways including: gardening, trial maintenance, building projects and social group projects to name a few. Park volunteers can be very helpful throughout many of our four county-wide parks.

Docents/Volunteers are subject to background checks and must be 18 years of age or older.
